About the Project
MP Materials has officially launched commercial production at its Fort Worth facility, a key step in a $700 million effort to restore the U.S. rare earth magnet supply chain. The plant, located in AllianceTexas, will supply magnets used in EVs, electronics, and defense systems, helping reduce reliance on foreign sources—particularly China, which dominates global magnet production. Sourcing materials from its California mine, MP aims to produce 1,000 metric tons of magnets annually, enough for 500,000 EV motors. In parallel, UTA received a $1.3M DOE grant to develop more efficient, sustainable magnet materials, supporting the broader national push for domestic manufacturing.
